After the graduation in 1959 from the Kiev State University Yu. Korchevoy was directed to the Physical electronics chair where in 1966 he defended the candidate thesis; since 1969 he worked as senior scientific worker and Head of the Department at the Institute of electrodynamics of the National Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic. Here he defended the doctor thesis. Since 1988 Ju. Korchevoy was appointed deputy director for scientific work of the Institute of power saving problems of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic - leader of the Department of the high temperature energy conversion. In 1996 on the basis of this Department the Scientific and technical center of coal power technologies of the National Academy of Sciences and Ministry of fuel and power of the Ukraine were created, Yu. Korchevoy became the director of it.

In 1992 Yu. Korchevoy was selected a Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of the Ukraine in the specialty "Engineering Thermophysics" and in 1997 he was selected academician in the specialty "Power Machine Building". In 1994 he became professor in the specialty "Theoretical bases of heat engineering".

Korchevoy Yu. is the author of discovery and more than 150 scientific publications.
