After the graduation of heat power faculty of the Kyiv Polytechnical Institute (1965) was sent to the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics of the Academy of Science of Ukraine where in 1974 he defended a candidate thesis on the speciality "The thermophysics and molecular physics", and in 1994 he defended a doctor thesis on the speciality "Nuclear power plants". Since 1986 he is a Head of the department of the High Intensity Heat Transfer.

The scientific interests formed for more than 35 years of work in the research of heat transfer and hydrodynamics of the two-phase flows concentrated on heat engineering bases of reliability and safety of the nuclear reactors cooled by water. Researh and design developments of more than 30 years being performed  together with the leading (in the field of nuclear power) organizations and institutions of the former USSR permitted to create a unique experimental basis at the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics. He is an author of more than 150 scientific publications and inventions and also a co-author of two publications of the Leading normative documents "Heat and hydraulic calculation of the heat transfer equipment of nuclear power stations" and a number of techniques of heat and hydraulic calculation of the nuclear power plants of the special purpose.
